Optical Oxygen Sensor – Optical Oxygen Sensors
What are Optical Oxygen sensors?
Optical oxygen sensor provide a possible alternative to traditional chemical sensors and features transducer materials such as patches or cuvettes. These materials respond to specific formulations available for various oxygen and pH sensing needs. they are manufactured to measure dissolved oxygen, ions, pH, ORP and others through the USB connection for easy and fast access.
Revolutionized Optical Oxygen Sensor
Introducing the pulsed fluorescence sensing technology, optical oxygen sensors provide outstanding performance, long-term stability and accurate measurements. It performs well without having the need for membranes, stirring, and polarizing. The user-friendly application software enables easy operation, calibration, data display and logging. This device can operate without other application or devices needed. they can provide accurate measure even if an ambient light strikes due to its black shield layer.
Applications
Optical oxygen sensors are used to measure and compensate temperature including humidity and salinity. It is also used for cell culture monitoring, headspace analysis in food and drink, and biological oxygen demand. It is also used as technology application for ventilators used during anesthesia operation, blood bag analysis, beverage and food packaging and bio process control.

How it Works
It uses fluorescence quenching with the help of ruthenium or porphyrin complex to measure the dissolved or gaseous oxygen partial pressure. It consists of a sensor coating formulation trapped in a sol-gel matrix to immobilize and protect from various package elements. The RE-BIFBORO-2 high sensitivity borosilicate optical oxygen sensor is connected to a blue LED and a Fluorometer. The blue LED light excites the optical oxygen sensor formulation, also known as fluoresces. The excess energy is then transferred to the oxygen molecule decreasing the fluorescence signal. The fluorescence is absorbed by the RE-BIFBORO-2 optical oxygen sensor through the Stern-Volmer equation.
